GentlemenAs you each get back into the swing of school, I hope the fraternal spirit of Sinfonia comes with you. There have been a number of times over the last five years when I had the responsibility of a job and was buried in schoolwork, and it was this fraternity that kept me sane. I know many of you could argue about the state of my sanity, but I really would not be here if it were not for this group. In my chapter, at the end of each quarter, we pass around a candle and discuss our triumphs and trials. I cannot even begin to remember the number of times I have thanked the chapter for their support because I would not be a student at this university without them. The support that I receive from all of the brothers from all different chapters has had a profound influence on my life. I cannot thank you enough. I have heard of many troubled brothers being uplifted by music and by our brotherhood; these stories, while it is unfortunate that any brother must have these pains, could not make me happier. The support that this brotherhood extends is incredible. We have this fraternity to allow us to transcend the weary sorrowful circle of life and I feel many of us lose sight of that. We should take a moment each day, with at least one brother, to sit and remove ourselves from the noisy rush of the world. This is my challenge to you. Take the time to talk or laugh with a brother each day. Remove yourself, if only for a moment, from the chaos of the world, and discuss the good things in life, and the things that are not going well. Work to build our brotherhood each and every day, and I promise your life will be improved which makes everything you are called to do more meaningful. Let our brotherhood be with you every day wherever you may be, whether on the streets or at work, may the light from your brothers illuminate your lives. Keep the fire and spread the light of Sinfonia. I love each of you my brothers and I thank you for your support. Fraternally, Jeremy J. Hatfield |
